Sao Paulo / Ihla de Pasqua

So, we arrived in Sao Paulo the 22 of April, where we met Aloisio, known also as Junior (and all his "po favo"... private joke !!!). He invited us in the appartement that he chears with his sister Patricia, and his niece of nearly 9, Julia. The place was small but the welcome and the love we received there were so huge... and that is what we like. By the way, thanks again guys, it was so cool.

Anyway, when at first you look at Sao Paulo, you could just see buildings, buildings and buildings, streets full of cars and pollution, people running like ants.

But when you look a little bit more, when you are curious like we are and when you have a amazing guide like "for exemple" (an other private joke) Aloisio, you discover a city with multiple faces : ancient, with all the churches built in the begining of the city like Sao Francisco or Carmo ; new, with the Avenida de Paulista and all the building of glass full of lights ; strange, with very contrevartial architecte Oscar Niemayer ; cultural, with the museum of de Arte de Sao Paulo where we discovered some brasilian artists like Di Cavalenti or Carlos Prado ; and at last but not leaste testy, with the Mercado Municipal where we discorvered, thanks again to Junior, all (or almost all) the fruits of Brasil and also the amazing sandwitches with ten thousands slices of mortadelle or the empanadas de bacalhao.

You guessed well, we loved the city and the friends we have and meet there !

The 25th, we took the plane, direction Santiago de Chile. It was hard to leave Sao Paulo and in the same time Brasil. We stayed more than a month there and it was very cool. And most of all, we will miss all our old friends like Anderson, Jacques, Junior, and the new ones like Markus, Patricia and her daughter, Veni and Cesar. Brasiliens are really nice people (when they don t talk about football of course !!!)

We stayed just one night in Santiago (at the place of Joao, a friend of Anderson), then we flyed to Ihla de Pasqua. The real name of the place is Rapa Nui. What to say about this island : beautifull, unbelivable, full of mysteries... all those words are very poor to describe it.

First, the island of itself is beautifull : a sort of strange mix of Ireland and Auvergne (in France), green everywhere and at some place, volcanos going out of all the green. And all over it, the deep blue of the pacific ocean.

You have the set, let s talk about the actors. The Moais, like there all call there, these big statues of stones, back to the oceans and looking at the countryside, like some kind of Big Brothers of the past. And they were actually : tombstones of the chiefs, they represented the authority and were looking at the village and the inhabitants. In the 17th century, the population made a revolution and all the Moais were put down, faces to the floor. The one which are still there were put back again by the archeologues.

There is a lot to tell about this Island and not enough place. Just know that you have to go there and discover it by yourself, I assure you that you won t regret it !

We flyed back to Santiago the 29 and stayed there two days at Joao s place. We discovered a little bit of the place which is not the most beautifull city we saw, but I m sure a nice place to live. We met also some of the friends of our hoste, very nice people in did.

We are now at San Pedro de Atacama, north of Chile... but this is an other story.
